Program Qualification Level

Child Development Undergraduate Program; Higher Education Qualifications Framework to Turkey (TYYÇ) by education level is level 6. In addition, it is the 1st level according to the "European Higher Education Area Qualifications Framework" (QF-EHEA) and the 6th level according to the "European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning" (EQF-LLL).

Objectives of the Program

Child development typically refers to the period in which people develop and mature from infancy to adulthood. The main topics that child development science focuses on are the examination of the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of the 0-18 age group. The aim of the program is to develop programs that will support the mental, language, motor, self-care, social and emotional development of children aged 0-18, who are in need of protection, in hospital, at risk (refugee, addicted and pushed to crime), who have typical and atypical development, and is to raise child developers who serve professionals and society. In addition, it is aimed to contribute to the scientific field with the studies to be carried out in the department, to prepare new educational programs and to lead the field in bringing academicians who are competent to work in national and international fields.

The primary goal of our department is to train professional, well-equipped and qualified child developers who have the qualifications to work in national and international platforms, who follow the rapid changes brought by the age, and who are open to interdisciplinary experience and information exchange, in order to work with the children in the 0-18 age group who are normal, in need of protection and under risk and to evaluate their social, emotional, mental, language and motor development and skill areas, and provide services to children, families, educators, and therefore the society.

Length and Process of the Program

The education period is 8 semesters. During the undergraduate program, a total of 240 ECTS credits are required to be 30 ECTS in one academic semester. Successful completion of all courses and a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are the qualification requirements for graduation.

Job and Academic Career Opportunities for Graduates

Our graduates can be appointed to various state institutions or work in private organizations by choosing according to their score in the KPSS exam. Child Developers can perform the following duties in the fields of education, health, social services and other sectors: IN THE FIELD OF HEALTH

• Child Development Specialists and Child Development Specialists, who can work in

HOSPITALS AND FAMILY HEALTH CENTERS, to make evaluations regarding the development of child development services in health institutions that are appropriate for the age and development characteristics of children and that can respond to individual needs when necessary; producing plans, programs and projects and their implementation; At the same time, it is responsible for working in cooperation with relevant units to create opportunities for internal and external cooperation.

IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION

• They can work as academic staff in associate degree, undergraduate and graduate education positions at UNIVERSITIES.

• Child Developers, who can work in Special Education Institutions and Counseling and Research Centers affiliated to the MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION, are responsible for evaluating the physical, mental and social and emotional development of individuals in accordance with their age levels and preparing individual education programs according to the characteristics of the individuals. By following the development of the individual, it cooperates with the relevant field experts for children who develop atypical; guides families and teachers in the relevant subject. They can be appointed as teachers to educational institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, provided that they have not completed the Secondary Education Field Teaching Master's Degree or Pedagogical Formation program (see MEB, Özel Eğitim Kurumları Yönetmeliği, 2008; Special Education Schools Framework Regulation, 2005; Guidance and Counseling Services Regulation , 2001).

IN SOCIAL SERVICES

• Work as Child Development Specialists in CHILDREN and YOUTH CENTERS.

• Working at the SOCIAL SERVICES and COMMUNITY CENTERS affiliated with the CHILD PROTECTION AGENCY, the Child Developmentist is responsible for determining the development levels of the children living in the service area, monitoring their development and supporting them. It works towards the solution of the detected problems; They prepare programs for children with normal and abnormal development, provide the necessary materials and take part in the implementation of the programs. 

SOCIAL SERVICES and GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF THE CHILD PROTECTION AGENCY Child Developers who can work in these institution are responsible for carrying out the care and support activities required for the adaptation of the child to the institution. They prepare and implement educational programs related to physical, mental, emotional and social development in line with the interests and needs of each child.

MINISTRY OF JUSTICE

• They can work as experts and consultants in juvenile courts.

MINISTRY OF INTERIOR

• Child Developers, who can also take part in the GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF SAFETY, CHILDREN'S BRANCH OFFICE / OFFICE DIRECTORATE, carry out studies in order to identify the material, moral and social problems of children who are pushed to crime, arising from their families or environmental conditions and that arise beyond their control. Work in cooperation with institutions such as family, school, social and health services to investigate the physical, psychological and sociological factors that drive children to crime and to develop plans and programs to improve the situation of the child; They are responsible for providing guidance services to the child in need of protection, neglect and abuse, escaping from home or the institution or organization, living on the street and working on the street, flying, drug and substance addicts, pushed to crime and the victim child and his legal representative.

They can work in UNICEF, ILO and VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATIONS (NGOs) as project producers, coordinators and consultants.

WRITTEN, AUDIO AND VISUAL PUBLICATIONS

• Producer, consultant and expert in the preparation and execution of radio and television children and youth programs and educational programs, • Producer, writer, consultant and supervisor in children's theaters and children's films,

• They have the opportunity to work as writers, experts, consultants, editors, editors in the preparation of books, magazines and newspapers for children, • Designers, consultants and supervisors in the production of educational toys.

Eğitim Öğretim Hedefleri
1 Bu dersi alan öğrenci, sağlıklı bireylerde vücudun genel işleyişi, bu işleyiş sırasında meydana gelen olayların mekanizması hakkında bilgi sahibi olur.
2 İnsan fizyolojisinin tanımını yapabilir ve fizyolojinin ilgi alanlarını açıklayabilir.
3 Sinir sistemi, hareket sistemi, kardiyovasküler sistem, boşaltım sistemi, solunum sistemi, sindirim sistemi, endokrin sistem ve üreme sistemi gibi bireyin yaşamının devamlılığını sürdürebilmesi için ihtiyaç duyduğu bu sistemlerin çalışma basamaklarını öğrenir.
4 İnsan vücudunda meydana gelen olayların normal şartlar altında işleyişini hücre, doku, organ ve sistem düzeyinde yorumlayabilir.

2 Alanın güncel literatürünü takip eder. Ortaya konan yeni yöntem ve düşüncelerin analizini, sentezini ve değerlendirmesini yapabilir.5
3 Fizyolojide kullanılan araştırma yöntemlerini çok iyi bilir. Temel laboratuvar malzemelerine hakimdir ve alanına özgü cihazlar hakkında ileri düzeyde bilgi ve kullanım becerisine sahip olur.4
4 Bilimsel araştırmalarda kullanılan istatistiksel yöntemleri iyi derecede bilir, çalışmalarında uygun şekilde kullanabilir.1
5 Alanına yenilik getiren özgün çalışmaların planlamasını, yönetimini, sonuçlandırmasını bağımsız bir şekilde yapabilir.3
6 Yaptığı araştırmalardan elde ettiği verilerle bilimsel yayın oluşturabilir, bilimsel toplantılarda sunabilir.2
7 Alanıyla ilişkili diğer bilim dalları ile iletişim kurabilir, ortak çalışmalar yürütebilir.5
8 Lisans düzeyindeki öğrencilere ders verebilir ve öğrenci laboratuvar uygulamalarını yürütebilir.1
9 Etik ilkelerin birey ve toplum için önemini bilir. Çalışmalarını yürütürken etik değerleri gözeterek hareket eder.1
